Sermon Series: The Purpose of Creation, Man, Woman, & Christ

This sermon series seeks, from the scriptures, to answer many of the core “why” questions that have been asked for ages:

Why did God create the universe?
Who are we?
Why are we here?
What is our purpose?
Why do bad things happen to good people?
Why is there suffering and evil?
Why doesn’t God just eliminate the Devil?

And many other such questions! I have never found it sufficient to simply answer “God knows” when I am convinced his Word gives us logical, consistent, and clear answers. And many answers posed by others I find to be contrary to the nature of God, or explicitly contrary to scriptures.

This sermon series begins with Ephesians 3:8-12–an overlooked, yet keystone passage for answering these questions. It relies heavily on dissecting Genesis 1-3 and embraces the God’s revelatory tactic of slowly unveiling the mystery of his Will.

This series will challenge you. It will likely argue against many of the traditional understandings you have been taught and actively discards theology (systematic or not) named after men. It certainly argues against our modern culture.

I exhort all listening to examine the scriptures for themselves–please do not listen to these lessons for the first time without the scriptures nearby. While I am confident that the framework and conclusions I outline in these lessons are the truth–I am but a man, subject to my own fleshly perspective and limitations.

I have never attended seminary, nor have I studied “Theology.” I study the scriptures. Jesus chose 12 uneducated Jewish common men to be his Apostles and 1 Pharisee of Pharisees (Paul)–Let no man deceive you by his credentials–Paul counted his own as rubbish.

Instead, seek to understand the Lord by understanding HIS words alone. As the scriptures themselves say: “Test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good.” 1 Thes 5:21.
